Leadership Council

 

Through a synergistic relationship, the International Society for Urban Health (ISUH) and its Leadership Council serve as strategic thought partners to advance the generation, exchange, and application of high-quality urban health knowledge among academics, policy makers, implementers across the public and private sectors, and communities to advance urban health and attain health equity in urban settings worldwide.


Overview

The ISUH Leadership Council will focus on issues and initiatives of mutual concern in urban health, work to increase awareness of the importance of urban health and advance evidence-based programs and policies that improve urban health at the global, national and local levels.

The objectives of the Council is to:

  1. foster meaningful opportunities for sharing knowledge, new directions, and offering input that continues to grow and strengthen the field of urban health;
  2. offer an engaging mechanism to develop new partnerships, strategies, and initiatives among the nonprofit, corporate and philanthropic sectors to advance turning evidence into action to improve the health of populations in cities worldwide;
  3. develop an active forum to address the broader determinants of health in cities through programs, policies and/or initiatives; and
  4. to offer sustained operational support to ISUH to allow them to advance their mission, to address the broader determinants of health across disciplines and sectors, improving health and health equity in cities worldwide, to achieve greater impact and a better urban future for all.

It is expected that members shall be from the corporate sector and foundations who participate in programs and policies that advance urban health through action on its broad determinants, and have a history of or potential for engagement with ISUH and/or its members, partners and affiliates in advancing urban health. Leadership Council members will be expected to review and comment on the ISUH Strategic Framework, financial plan and annual program of work. Member organizations of the ISUH Leadership Council will provide the ISUH with $50,000 per year of general operating support for an initial commitment of a three (3) year term renewable by mutual agreement.

In addition to providing individual memberships for up to five (5) of your organization's staff members, benefits of the Leadership Council also include: Platinum level sponsorship of the International Conference on Urban Health (ICUH); complimentary registration for up to five (5) staff members (or designated individuals) to the ICUH; access to expert members, networks, etc., of ISUH with administrative support to advance projects of mutual interest; and much more!
